Information Station

The opportunities for learning are practically unlimited and often free on the internet. From acquiring the skills to write basic computer code to taking college-level courses, there is something for everyone. Learning not only improves one's self-esteem but possessing a wide range of knowledge, experience, and skills can result in greater job prospects and higher income potential. The keys you need for an information windfall are just a few clicks away.

  • Explore college-level courses and have the option of receiving a grade and a certificate:     LEARN

  • Brush up on basic math skills or take practice SAT Tests: Prepare

I learn best with mnemonic approaches or, in other words, by making up rhymes, jingles, or acronyms in order to retain and recall specific information. I know many other people find these learning techniques helpful, so I will post some of my favorite mnemonic memory boosters. And I hope you will share how you learn and how you are able to remember certain pieces of information.  In addition to memory boosters, I will include links to helpful learning-based websites. Let the learning begin!

How Many Days?

It really pays to watch "Wheel of Fortune"! Not only did I discover the points program: www.mypoints.com but I also learned a nifty little trick from the letter-turning diva, Vanna White. Vanna said she looks at her fist to remember how many days each month of the year has. The knuckles on your hand represent months that have 31 days and the spaces between the knuckles (Vanna calls them valleys) have 30 or fewer days. The following image demonstrates this idea.

Thirty days has September,

April, June, and November.

All the rest have thirty-one,

Except for February alone,

Which has but twenty-eight days clear,

And twenty-nine in each leap year.
